The instructor will cover the four main issues and concepts needed for successful glass fusing: compatibility, devitrification, annealing and volume control. There will also be a short lecture period dealing with firing schedules, trouble shooting the most common problems like bubbles and setting up your kiln for in-home studio operation. This is a two-day class where the student will make two projects. One will be a large 14 inch diameter platter where special techniques are needed for bubble control with a project this size. The second piece will be a 7 inch by 15 inch in size but is 1/2 inch thick, which will require special layering to create visual depth. It will be constructed with edge dams for volume control. Both of these projects will require special complex firing schedules which are required for large or thick projects.
